Early Years

Children start lessons around the age of five and follow the ‘rainbow’ course which is intended as a foundation course in music and piano. The course has been specially written and consists of a series of seven books which are highly structured to teach children the basics of music in an enjoyable group situation. The group lesson of around six children and their carers lasts one hour per week during term time and cost £54 for six one hour lessons.

Children are encouraged to perform regularly during the course and present a special concert at the end of the two- year course. After this they are ready to move on to graded piano classes or to take up an orchestral instrument,

guitar or singing lessons.
Each child plays on a digital piano during the lesson and would need a keyboard instrument or piano at home to practise and improve skills learnt during the lesson.

Piano Lesson (Ages 7+)

At ‘rainbow’ we offer group and individual lessons in piano. Group lessons are £54 for six one- hour lessons and individual lessons are £30 per hour pro rata. Most people would opt for a 30 minute weekly lesson. The group lessons enable the

teacher to include all aspects of music including theory and composing. Students enter grade exams (ABRSM) when appropriate both in practical and theory. Classes are available in classical and jazz piano from Grade 1 to Grade 5. Individual lessons are available for more advanced students and adults.
